These 11 shots are from the Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) Awareness Event and the sim that was gracious enough to provide the space for it, Wedding Chapel II. The lovely NatashaAngelfire contacted me this morning and informed me that this event was going on and I had to check it out for two reasons – the sim sounded lovely and the cause is a worthy one. There are so many good causes that many people are contributing their time, talents, resources, and energies too in Second Life that it can seem overwhelming at times. It is important for all of us to remember that just because we do not personally know someone affected by some of the diseases and syndromes that are talked about, chances are we know someone who knows someone that is. You would be surprised at how close we are to situations without ever realizing it. The littlest things that we can do, be it show a couple of lindens of support, volunteer our time, or even blog about an event does have a positive effect on those that are afflicted with conditions. It is not always about the money but more about the emotional support, the attempt to become informed and show that we are trying to understand their own personal challenges (that they are important no matter what they may be going through) that ultimately matters. Isn’t that our one basic fundamental need in life, outside of breathing and living, is to be cared for or about?
When you arrive at this event, there is a sign that you can click to get more information about EB. I recommend clicking on it and just glancing it over. Additionally, I recommend visiting this wonderful blog post describing it further EB Awareness Event in SL.
